Abstract

Determining the capstone design topic for most students cannot be applied easily, so many students are confused in determining the topic, especially for students who are still at the initial semester level. This confusion can lead to errors in selecting a capstone design topic that is not appropriate to the student's academic abilities. Incompatibility of topics will also affect the implementation of each stage of the capstone project which will experience problems. This research aims to apply a fuzzy inference system using the Sugeno method to help students determine the choice of capstone design topic. The input variable used is capstone design supporting course data and the output variable is capstone design topic data. From the research results, several rules were obtained for each Casptone Design topic, namely the Smart Village (SV) topic with 40 rules with 5 variables, and the Decision Support System (DSS) topic with 24 rules with 3 variables. And based on the test results, the Fuzzy Inference System using the Sugeno method can be implemented to provide recommendations for selecting the capstone design topic.
